LG Electronics Inc. is a South Korean multinational electronics company that is a part of the LG Group. The LG Group makes electronics, chemicals, and telecom products and operates subsidiaries such as LG Electronics, Zenith, LG Display, LG Uplus and LG Chem.

LG Corporation was established as Lak-Hui (Pronounced as “lucky”) Chemical Industrial Corporation in 1947. In 1952, it became the first Korean company to enter the plastic industry. As their plastic business expanded, they established Goldstar  Co. Ltd. (now known as LG Electronics Inc.) LG Electronics was established as a result of the second world war in order to provide a war-torn nation with consumer products to help the nation rebuild itself. In the year of 1958, Lak-Hui and Goldstar merged in order to give birth to Lucky-Goldstar, now known as LG. The LG Electronics company headquarters are located in Yeouido-dong, Seoul, South Korea.

In 1982, LG Electronics established its first overseas production in the United States of America due the rapid surge in globalisation. In 1994, GoldStar officially adopted the LG Electronics brand. A new corporate logo was also created. LG Electronics also acquired the US-based TV manufacturer Zenith. In 1995, LG Electronics created the world's first CDMA digital mobile handsets. They also supplied Ameritech and GTE in the US. The company was also awarded UL (safety) certification in the US. In 1998, LG developed the world's first 60-inch plasma TV, and in 1999 they entered a joint venture with Philips which is now known as LG Display. In 2011, LG Electronics was the second-largest television manufacturer in the world.
